Your Future in HVAC Starts Here

Haynes University is a 4-year accredited trade school designed to launch successful, long-term careers in the HVAC industry. Founded in 2015 by Haynes Mechanical Systems, the program was built to fill a real need in the industry: highly skilled, job-ready technicians trained the right way—from the ground up.

Unlike traditional education paths, Haynes University combines hands-on experience with expert-led classroom learning, taught by licensed Journeyman Technicians who actively work in the field. You won’t just read about the trade—you’ll be learning from professionals who live it every day.

The curriculum follows the nationally recognized HVACR training framework developed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), ensuring every student receives consistent, industry-approved instruction that opens doors in the workforce.

Whether you’re brand new to the trades or looking to formalize your skills, Haynes University offers a proven, supportive path into one of the most in-demand careers in the country.

When you join Haynes University, you’re not just enrolling in a trade school. You’re stepping into a program designed by people who believe in your future and are committed to helping you reach it.

Learn the Trade—The Right Way

At Haynes University, we believe in learning by doing. That’s why our 4-year program combines expert-led classroom instruction with real-world, hands-on training—designed to build your confidence, skills, and professionalism from day one.

We follow a nationally recognized curriculum developed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), ensuring that your education meets industry standards and sets you up for long-term success.

Class Schedule & Format

  • Classes meet two evenings per week
  • Each class is three hours long (typically 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.)
  • 576 hours of in-class instruction over four years
  • Small class sizes for personalized instruction and mentorship
  • Held at Haynes Mechanical’s modern training facility

Led by Working Experts

Courses are taught by licensed Journeyman Technicians who bring current field experience directly into the classroom. That means you’re not just learning from a book—you’re learning from professionals who are out there doing the work every day.

How You’ll Learn

Each level of the program builds on the one before it, combining:

  • Lectures & live demonstrations to understand systems and components
  • Group discussions to problem-solve and collaborate as a team
  • Hands-on labs for brazing, refrigerant handling, troubleshooting, and more
  • Real-world insights from experienced instructors on what it takes to thrive in the industry

Earn While You Learn (For Select Students)

All students complete their first year in the classroom. After that, Haynes evaluates each student’s performance, work ethic, and growth. Select students may be invited to join our in-house apprenticeship program, where they begin earning on-the-job learning (OJL) hours while employed at Haynes.

This opportunity provides valuable experience, mentorship, and progress toward your Journeyman Certification—but it’s based on merit and not guaranteed for all.

Tools to Help You Succeed

We believe the right tools make a big difference—not just in getting the job done, but in building confidence and pride in your craft. At Haynes University, we support your growth by helping you build a high-quality toolset over time.

As you complete each level of the program, you’ll receive a tool stipend to invest in the gear you need to succeed in the field. It’s our way of backing you up as you build your future—one wrench, meter, and screwdriver at a time.

Tool Stipend Breakdown

  • Level 1 Completion: $200
  • Level 2 Completion: $300
  • Level 3 Completion: $450
  • Level 4 Completion: $550

That’s a total of $1,500 in tools—provided directly to you as you progress through the program.

These stipends aren’t generic giveaways—they’re designed to help you purchase the tools you’ll actually use on the job. By the time you graduate, you’ll not only have the skills—you’ll have a professional setup that’s ready for the real world.

Skills You’ll Learn

Haynes University is designed to give you more than just theory—it equips you with the real, hands-on skills employers are looking for. From the first semester through graduation, you’ll be developing technical know-how that you can apply immediately in the field.

You’ll learn how to not only install and service HVAC systems, but also how to understand them, troubleshoot them, and communicate with the teams and customers who rely on them every day.
